About Pink Glove

In 2016 Medline Europe will host a Pink Photo Competition. Please click here for more details.

The Pink Glove Dance Story

The Pink Glove movement at Medline started in 2009 with the overwhelming and enthusiastic response to the original Pink Glove Dance video, which debuted on YouTube. At Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Oregon, United States of America, 200 people danced to the catchy tune “Down” by Jay Sean. The video went viral after it launched and was featured in numerous news stories across all media.

When that video posted seven years ago, Medline was flooded with calls, emails and letters about the joy the video was bringing to people and communities around the world. In 2010, Medline produced a sequel that featured 4,000 pink glove dancers and breast cancer survivors from around the U.S. and Canada.

In 2011, Medline launched a video competition open to anyone who wanted to make their own Pink Glove Dance video. Since then, nearly 200,000 people have danced in the competition. The European competition was launched in 2013.
